Summit County – Activities and Mountain Real Estate

Located just west of the Continental Divide, Summit County is about 70 miles west of the City of Denver.  I-70 stretches all the way from Denver through the mountains to Summit County and beyond, with central exits located in Silverthorne and Frisco, providing easy access to all of the county.

Summit County is the place to be!  The county is home to some of the finest real estate in all of Colorado including the towns of Breckenridge, Frisco, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Dillon, and Silverthorne.  In addition to many mountain towns, Summit County is also home to four world-class ski resorts!  Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain resorts offer a wide variety of terrain and many different snow sports.  There’s sure to be something for every member of the family.  Best of all, the four resorts are an easy drive from all of our Summit County real estate, especially from the hub of the county, Frisco, Colorado.

Many seek out Frisco real estate or one of our other Summit County mountain towns for a simple reason – very few other areas in Colorado or the United States have as much to offer in both winter and summer.  Summit County can get more that 30 feet of snow per year – it’s no wonder visitors keep coming back from all over the world!  Arapahoe Basin, located closest to the Continental Divide, usually gets 30 or more feet of snow annually.  Copper Mountain comes in with around 20 feet of snow per year, while Frisco and Silverthorne see much less – often around 10 feet total.  Even with all the snow, the county is still a pleasant place for outdoor activities.  At 9,000 feet in elevation, we have very low humidity and abundant sunshine!  Whether you ski, snowboard, snowshoe, or Nordic ski, Summit County is the place for your winter activities.

While winter fun is the reason most locals moved here in the first place, summer is what keeps them here.  With 300 plus days of sunshine each year, temperatures that rarely climb above 80 degrees, endless bike and hike paths, spectacular scenery, two marinas, and countless events on and around Lake Dillon, Summit County is recognized nationwide as a year round playground.  There’s no place like Summit County, Colorado!

Much like the variety of outdoor activities, Summit County also offers a wide variety of real estate opportunities.  Whether you are looking for a single family cabin tucked away in the woods, a ski in/ski out condo right next to the slopes, or a mountain townhome overlooking the lake, you can find it here.  Colorado real estate can be found in mountain towns, at the base of ski resorts like Breckenridge or Keystone, along the shores of Lake Dillon, on a ranch north of Silverthorne, or in the centrally located Town of Frisco.  With so many choices, there are properties to suit each family that falls in love with the mountains.

Summit County, Colorado is a terrific place for both summer and winter sports, as well as the perfect location to purchase Colorado real estate.  And now is the perfect time!
